Subject: I Rest My Case
Sorry man but the jury is in and the sound is bad.

Only a guess here but seems like you are downloading these and then doing your processing. Try starting with the actual record and then restore it. Often times a lot can be reduced on these old worn records by using a bigger size stylus, say a 3.5 or 4. This keeps the needle from riding in the bottom of the groove. Of course this is a cylinder recording, so a different animal. With a record it is the first step in reproducing better sound.

Almost no surface noise, certainly no "grinding". Best to seek out the original files before this guy got his hands on them.

Subject: Terrible!
Recording is too washed out.
Sounds terrible!
Of coarse I am not expecting stereo!
You just over processed the restoration of the cylinder record. Sounds like it is under water.
It ruins the listening pleasure of the cylinder recording, that's all!

1903 had no hi-fi. What do you expect, stereo maybe! this is a nice song. the grinding noise of wax cylinders is nicely removed.
